Nature is the strongest subject matter for paintings.

Created in oils the recent series centres on the abstract qualities of the sea, reflections and contrast between the harder edges of boats.

There is something endlessly fascinating in the movement of water, the relaxing quality of boats floating on glassy water and the colours swirling and blending below.

In particular, the brightly coloured fishing boats of Java have been depicted.

Geometric abstraction is a recurring theme and may well be associated with my earlier life in architecture and design.
